Diesel Generator Types

Diesel generator sets are mainly divided into four parts: diesel engine, generator, control system, and accessories. The diesel engine is the power output part of the whole unit, accounting for 70% of the cost of the diesel generator set, and the function of the generator is to convert the power of the diesel engine into electricity, which is directly related to the quality and stability of the output power. Generally speaking, in addition to these common types, diesel generator sets also have some special types. According to our many years of industry experience, the following diesel generator classifications are summarized for reference!!

1. According to the classification of diesel generator speed; it can be divided into high-speed, medium-speed, and low-speed diesel generator sets

2. According to the fuel classification of the engine; it can be divided into diesel generator sets and composite fuel generator sets (for reference only

3. According to the different uses of diesel generator sets, diesel generator sets can be divided into common generator sets, standby generator sets, and emergency generator sets.

4. Classification according to the conditions of use: it can be divided into land use, marine use, trailer type, and car type diesel generator sets. Among them, land-use generator sets: include mobile and fixed. Land-use units can be divided into four types: ordinary type, automatic type, low-noise type, and low-noise automatic type.

5. According to the generator output voltage and frequency classification: can be divided into AC generators and DC generators. Among them, are AC generator sets; including intermediate frequency 40HZ and power frequency 50HZ. The rated voltage of small and medium-sized generator sets with 50HZ power frequency is generally 400V; the rated voltage of large generators is generally 6.3-10.5kV.

6. Classification according to the excitation method of synchronous generators: it can be divided into rotating AC exciter and stop exciter.
1) Rotary AC exciter excitation system, including AC exciter to stop rectifier excitation system and then brushless excitation system
2) Stop exciter excitation system, including voltage source stop exciter excitation system, AC side series compound voltage source stop exciter excitation system, and harmonic (or fundamental wave) auxiliary winding excitation system
