Oil type transformers are one of the most common and important equipment in power systems. In order to ensure their normal operation and safety performance, strict testing procedures are required. The following are the general steps for oil-immersed transformer testing:

oil type transformer

Appearance inspection: First, inspect oil type transformer appearance, including the casing, insulators, terminal blocks, etc. Check for damage, corrosion or looseness.

Insulation resistance test: Use an insulation resistance tester to measure the insulation resistance of the oil type transformer. This can help determine the health of the insulation system and whether there is a leak or damaged insulation.

Oil immersion test: Fill the transformer with insulating oil and perform an oil immersion test. This test can check the insulation performance of the transformer windings and insulation materials, and whether the quality of the oil meets the standards.

Current load test: Test the oil type transformer current capacity by applying a load at its rated voltage. This helps determine whether the oil type transformer rated capacity meets the requirements and check whether there is a risk of overload or short circuit.

Rectifier transformer testing: For rectifier oil type transformers, special testing procedures are required, including the rectification efficiency, output voltage stability and load regulation characteristics of the rectifier transformer.

Oil sample analysis: Regularly sample the transformer insulating oil and conduct laboratory analysis. This can detect the presence of contaminants, moisture or other anomalies in the oil, as well as identify potential faults within the transformer.

The above is the general procedure for testing oil type transformers. Through these tests, the oil type transformer performance and reliability can be ensured and the safety and stability of the power system can be improved. Therefore, when testing oil type transformers, the prescribed procedures must be strictly followed to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test results.
