diesel generator set

Many parts of the diesel generator set body are in the form of pressure seals, such as between the cylinder liner, piston, piston ring, supercharger, and supercharger rotor shaft. Fully functioning, if the generator set runs under low load for a long time, the following faults will occur:

diesel generator

1. Blue smoke
The piston and cylinder liner are not well sealed, the engine oil will go up, enter the combustion chamber for combustion, and the exhaust will emit blue smoke.

2. The engine oil is running around
For supercharged diesel engines, due to low load and no load, the boost pressure is low. It is easy to cause the sealing effect of the supercharger oil seal to decrease, and the oil will escape into the supercharging chamber and enter the cylinder along with the intake air.

3. Carbon deposition
A part of the oil that goes up to the cylinder participates in the combustion, and a part of the oil cannot be completely burned, forming carbon deposits on the valves, intake ports, piston tops, piston rings, etc., and the rest is discharged with the exhaust. In this way, the oil will gradually accumulate in the exhaust passage of the cylinder liner, and carbon deposits will also be formed.

4. Leakage
When the oil in the supercharging chamber of the supercharger accumulates to a certain extent, it will leak from the joint surface of the supercharger.

5. Component wear
Long-term low-load operation will more seriously lead to increased wear of moving parts, deterioration of engine combustion environment, and other consequences that lead to an early overhaul period.

According to the above situation, we remind all users to reduce the low-load/no-load running time as far as possible no matter the use of naturally aspirated or supercharged models, and stipulate that the minimum load should not be lower than 25%-30% of the rated power of the unit. Only in this way can the problems caused by low load be reduced.
